In November 2018, I have departed for a little adventure…
I left my job in Germany behind, where I am working for Audi as an international political economist, investigating and undertaking internationalization strategies for emerging markets.
My destination: a teaching position at a university called EIA to teach strategic management, international business and market entry strategies, in a storied country such as Colombia and an even more storied city such as Medellín.
From the first moment on, I have been welcomed very warmly. Miguel Jaramillo, who is so much more than just my boss, took great care of me supporting me with everything one can think of in an incredible hearty way. All of my colleagues greeted me with a smile on their faces, reassuring me that whatever I would need they would be happy to help. They integrated me from day one and even though I still don´t understand most of their jokes at lunchtime since their Paisa is still a black box for me ;), they have become not only my local community but also my friends. And guess where the greatest fun takes place… in class! Interacting with the students, who are incredibly open-minded, interested, smart and courageous, is not only super interesting but also very funny!
It is the people that made me fall in love with this country! Colombia really is fascinating me, with its warmth, its history, the people´s admirable attitude, its natural beauty and its delicious flavors not only of its tasty cuisine but its rich flavors of life.
This little adventure has brought me to a wonderful place, a place which will be hard to leave and to which for sure I will come back many more times.
